QGIS and PostGIS course in full swing

posted 24 Nov 2010, 01:08 by Gavin Fleming   [ updated 24 Nov 2010, 01:40 ]

Tim has presented two days of QGIS and has just introduced PostgreSQL. Gavin will take over for the rest of the week with PostGIS. Sam is doing a great job walking the class and helping out. Students have come from far and wide: Botswana, Gauteng and the Western Cape, from government, industry and academia. The venue is perfect with an Ubuntu computer lab and yum refreshments. We also get to mingle with maths experts from across Africa and the world. AIMS (the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences) is a residential tertiary education facility for post-grad studies in mathematics and is already completely "Open Source".

We are ready to welcome our students for the course next week (22-26 Nov 2010) from the Western Cape, Gauteng and Botswana. There has been a slight change in venue. The course will now be just a short walk away from our original venue. It is now at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, which has an Ubuntu Linux computer lab and full canteen and refreshment facilities. See the LOCATION page for directions.
